An accessory for the PSP that I’m pretty sure no one cared about, could maybe burn down your house. The add-on camera called Chotto Shot can get hot. So hot that it has “emitted a burning smell” from the PSP itself.

A reader from pspfanboy tried to purchase the peripheral from a retailer and received the following message.

“Due to a safety issue and high defect rate, we are issuing a product recall to anyone who has purchased a PSP Chotto Shot Camera after July 1st, 2008. Even though these units have been tested, we have been getting reports that some of these units have been running extremely hot, and have emitted a burning smell from the unit. An already dangerous and unfortunate situation, this could lead to the even more serious event of a fire starting from the unit.”

The retailer noted that they’ve forward the issues with the camera to the manufacture and their aware of the problem. The Chotto Shot is a Japan only add-on and in my opinion, if it’s going to burn gamers, it can stay there. I’ll just stick with a real digital camera, thank you.
