Dead Rising for the Wii Not a Port and Control to be Similar to RE4

As we reported earlier about the Wii’s Dead Rising being a port of the Xbox 360, Christain Sevensson from Capcom wanted to set the recored straight.

“If you like RE4 (Resident Evil 4) Wii’s control scheme, you’re going to love this. I think it’s important to note: this isn’t a port. This is recreated from the ground up for the Wii. So while it borrows things like story and location, there are many changes from the 360 beyond the obvious graphical ones.”

Or you could translate it like this:

“Even though the Wii can’t even compete with the Xbox 360 in terms of graphics or power, we’re going to give a unique way of playing. In this version, you’ll be swinging your arms around like an idiot, and hopefully, we’ll make more money.”

I’m sorry, I do love my Wii for certain games. But some games shouldn’t even see the light of day on the Wii. I know, it “might” be fun for a few moments for the system. But at the end of the day, I couldn’t even see the game comparing to the 360 version. When I first saw Dead Rising for the Xbox 360, I like everyone else, almost crapped my pants. Seeing how many enemies they could fit on the screen at once and a game that looked as pretty as it did, was something to behold. That’s what made the game what it is today. I just can’t see the Wii getting even close to the number of zombies on the screen at once. I hope they do, I just don’t see it happening.

  1. The fact that the Wii wouldn’t be able to handle a port of the Xbox 360 Dead Rising is kind of a shame. It means they should really be developing the Wii version from the ground up, so that they don’t suffer criticism concerning the differences between consoles.

Oh wait, that’s what they’re doing.
