Live Blog From EA’s E3 Press Conference

In just a few minutes, we’ll be bring you what EA has in stored for us in 08′. And yes, This time it’s LIVE!

=====

3:05 Was supposed to start 5 mins ago… EA Sports: “We’re Late.”

3:06 It starts, showing a video montage of what is in store.

3:08 The montage showed alot of casual games for us.

3:09 Jon Riccitilo takes the stage, he says “We’re going to be doing something different”. He’s showing us the creators of the games. They are going to talk about them.

3:10 Rod Humble, head of The Sims studio, takes the stage. He’s going to show us Sim Animals. It is a game where you control nature; if you want more bears you take a mom bear and dad bear, they do the nookie, and you have a new bear. Pretty basic, will be for WII and DS.

3:14 Sims 3 will be coming in 2009. Everything will be connected, if you do something the whole town will be affected. Trailer for The Sims 3: Graphically it looks great, the faces are awesome. Will the Sims 3 will be king of the casual games again? I think so.

3:17 Glen Schofield comes on stage, to talk about EA’s new M rated game, Dead Space. We are now seeing a demo of the game. Graphics are pretty good and there is a great 3d in game HUD. Something just screamed and just scared the crap out of me. It’s a MONSTER, the main character is trying to kill it. It looks like it froze it, and now he is tearing its limbs off. I’m not going to lie, i’m disappointed by it, the shooting looks boring. Although, they nailed the atmosphere. A monster grabbed the guy by the foot and was dragging him and at the same time he was shooting him and this was all in real time. Showing a new trailer for it while the song “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” was playing. ….mommy, i’m scared :(

3:22 Pat Soderlund from DICE is showing us Mirrors Edge. Yes the game looks that amazing in real time. The video was of in-game play. Things will turn red, if it is red, it means you can run, climb, etc; it will show you a pathway. It is very neat! They will have a slow-motion feature to help you decide where you want to go. The fighting looks somewhat questionable, but it is still early. The character in the video is on a roof trying to find a way to get away. She jumped on a helicopter. AWESOME! This looks awesome, could be a GREAT EA GAME! Also has a new trailer, I’ll try to get it after this… (UPDATE: We posted the trailer here.)

3:32 Time for Will Wright and Spore. Will is talking about how he loves science and creativity, and how he wanted to put Spore in the middle of that. Spore Creature Creator demo was the top PC game for the week when it came out. The creatures that we have made will be able to work with the final version. He pointed out how there are more species in Spore then on earth. He is showing some of the creatures that people have made, from people, to tigers, to planes, and even male reproductive organs. (That last part is not true). He is now going on how companies are using Spore to create theories about evolution. Now we are seeing a trailer of Spore. The game is looking better, can’t wait!

3:42 Peter Moore is on stage, he is going to show us some EA sports games. He is talking about how the online mode of NBA Live 09′ is going to change EA. Retired Celtics player, Bill Walton, comes on stage, a legend in Basketball, his hight is just as impressive. Bill is talking about how he loves basketball. He is a great salesmen and makes me want NBA 09′, even before i’ve even seen any game play. The players in NBA Live 09′ have dynamic DNA, it is a way to maintain the strengths and weakness of players. It will update daily online. Pretty Cool, but how is the gameplay? It seems like Bill Walton is going off script, has the crowed laughing their collective ass off. Gameplay looks really stiff. The dynamic DNA is a great idea but it seems as though EA focused more on this then the game play. Peter Moore seems like he is annoyed by Walton at this point. So far he is the highlight for me.

3:52 Moore is now talking about how the Wii will be easier for the casual gamer. We are going to see Tiger Woods for the Wii. Natalie Gulbis (She is HOTT!) from the LPGA has come on stage to play with Moore. Moore hit a great shot. Natalie hit a BAD shot, kind of ironic. She doesn’t seem like she knows how to play. The point was to show, it is easy for Moore to pick up and play and beat a pro, I think? (Although why would it be easy for Moore to pick up and not Gulbis…) Looks like they are not showing Madden? hmmmm…..

4:02 John Pleasants from EA Red Shores comes on stage. He is talking about the wants of the casual gamer and hardcore gamer. Now Nanea Reeves from EA online comes on stage and talks about Nucleus. Nucleus is like a gamer tag, but will help find people like you to play against in other EA games, instead of just your friends.

4:06 Someone from Rupture.com is on the stage, Rupture is site where you can see what your friends are playing, seems almost like a myspace for gamers. (Editor note: this someone is actually Shawn Fanning, you know him as that Kid that created a little thing called Napster.)

4:09 Travis Boatman, head of mobile games for EA, takes the stage. Looks like they are going to show games for the iPhone. Tetris for the iPhone is a little different, you draw the piece that you want next. Tiger woods and Need for speed will be on the iphone.

4:11 Greg Zeschuk from Bioware is on stage, and is showing a trailer for Dragon Age: Origins. Nothing new, it is the same one that is online right now.

4:20 Gabe Newell from Valve is up, he is going to talk about Left 4 Dead, a FPS horror game. The game will monitor how you play, and depending on what you do with your group of friends, the game will change. They are showing some new footage, and it is looking VERY pretty. It will ship NOV 4th for PC and Xbox 360. They show a trailer for it. The game is very grainy, and is looking very creepy; looks great!!

4:24 Pleasants come back on stage, introduces John Carmack (Doom) and ID software. The game RAGE will be at Quakecon, but we get a teaser here. The video they are showing looks amazing, so if it is in-game, all I have to say is WOW. (UPDATE: View the teaser here.)

4:25 It is Over….What no Rockband!? Is it going to be at Sony or Nintendo!? Must leave, battery is going to die on my MAC :(

Come back tomorrow for our live coverage of Nintendo’s and Sony’s Press Conference’s.
